Kenneal Patterson is a Brooklyn-based journalist and storyteller.
Kenneal has extensive experience in all different reporting mediums. At The Bay State Banner, she covered daily news on everything from local politics to budding DJ artists. At The Boston Calendar, she wrote event guides and roundups aimed at documenting the city’s hippest new restaurants, shows, festivals and concerts. Her newsletter reached over 75,000 people every week.
Kenneal has been a freelance journalist for over five years, writing for the Dorchester Reporter, Bushwick Daily, Gothamist and 5280 Magazine. Her coverage includes DIY theater shows, neighborhood raves, trendy donut shops, wacky bird clubs and even an investigative piece on the viral TikToks that exposed the teen treatment industry.
At Action Against Hunger, Kenneal documents global emergencies and the intersections between climate change, inequality, conflict and malnutrition. In March 2024, she reported on the ground in Zambia’s Western Province.
Whether her reporting is international or in her own backyard, Kenneal is committed to connecting to and amplifying local voices.
